Utilities in the Empire State are wasting no time in moving forward with the Reforming the Energy Vision program that will help modernize the state's electrical grid.

ConEdison has announced that it may pursue a $1 billion investment in substation upgrades and another $500 million for traditional utility investments and clean energy resources.

In addition, both ConEdison and PSEG Long Island have stated that projects based on demand response, microgrids, energy efficiency and energy storage are a big part of their plans for the future of New York's electric grid. These initiatives will radically change the way energy retailers handle risk management and load forecasting as grid efficiency improves.
