Here are some FAQ's on the MHHS update. We will keep updating these as we go along!
Your Questions | Responses |
Will the 04 meters be simply adding the kVA or changing over completely? | Nothing will change and no, KVA will be added to 04 meters. |
On the back of the MOP question, do you think it is worth advising businesses not to sign direct agreements for now? | In our opinion, we wouldn't advise of not signing MOP agreements, there is still a while before further supplier information is available to derive the right outcome. |
So if a meter has been migrated but a lookup hasn't been done, we /may/ not see the right quotes/product, but we can't know if a meter has been migrated unless we do the look up? | One way of establishing migration status is a lookup, but you can also check the customers bill or supplier account for this information. |
Would you be able to go into more detail regarding metering contracts please? I have a few clients who are looking to sign direct agreements as their supplier is charging them default MOP & DC rates but are these still going to be required? | This is not known yet but we will confirm as soon as we can. |
Would the Portals be able to give renewal information for HH meters now? (Consumption & CED's) | Not as of yet. In the future we expect this to be the case, however not currently. |
Just on HH data - when we request this from info will we get the night/day split now? | No - HH data will remain in the same format. |
How will the cost of additional look ups affect Look Up plans. i.e., Numbers per month may be exceeded? | If the cost of lookups is a concern please discuss with your Account Manager who can discuss plans. |
For someone that uses nothing at night will there be options to pay a single rate and therefore a cheaper day rate? | We expect this to be a likely conversation in the future, however not as yet. Time of use tariffs should for the future to provide better rates all round. |
Will HH data be required for all meters in order to quote moving forward? | No |
Is it likely (thinking smaller businesses) that more suppliers will offer single rate contracts rather than being forced into a day night contract. Many would be financially better off due to minimal night rates | It's not known what offers suppliers will make yet but this seems likely. We will provide more details when we have them. |
So do we need to do meter exchange for residential as there will HH meter from may 2027? | The supplier will communcate directly with the customers with regards to who requires meter changes ready for migration. |
Would MOPs be required for residential do we know? | MOPs will be replaced by meter administrators. |
Regarding pricing, with HH meters, would this mean bespoke pricing will no longer be required, as we would be able to price off the portal? | It will work very similarly to today for the forseeable, which is traditional HH I&C would still be tendered, and SME would be price book, automation driven. |
Will that mean there will be more HH matrices available from suppliers who don't currently supply them ? | Not expected to be any change in the near future. |
Will profile classes change? | Profile classes will change upon migration. However in the industry data, that will identify change if it's a historic NHH meter, to esnure correct pricing. |
Assuming all meters including residential would be subject to capacity charges once all completed? | No, the MHHS programme is not due to create KVA charges. The main aim of the migration to HH settles, is so they can manage the grid capacity and start encouraging different times of use. |
Does this mean that ALL meter themselves will be changed ? | No, there are a large percentage that are already equipped to be HH settled, a minority of meters will actually need physically replacing. |
